While having a look through the July IDM archives to try and dig up some info (yes, at 3am...you never know when the urge will strike you) I came across this posted by Todd Roberts the editor or Urb:

Haha. Right on the money. Wonder how he even got a chance to look at the list, he's probably always so busy with those fashion spreads and dick sucking interviews with house dj's. BTW, another interesting bit, Greg mentioned that Rephlex and Boards of Canada were in negotiations. Hmmmm. Todd Roberts is certainly right about the lack of musical perspective - your ceaseless self-righteous posts only confirm that. At least mags like Muzik and Urb make an effort to cover dance and club culture in all its forms and let the reader decide what and what not to read. I'd much rather have it that way than have to read blinkered idm-only elitist snot like this. There are more than a few of us whose tastes extend beyond Rephlex and Warp, and continual and pointless assaults like this get really annoying after a while. Sorry for the vitriol, here's to a little more open-mindedness for '97. Ashok

At least Urb tries to give a comprehensive view of dance culture in all its aspects, a view that goes beyond discographies, release dates and X = RDJ / MP / Ae questions. And does a mighty fine job at that too... Otto OnNow: Teep's Squarepusher mixtape

whooo hooo! speaking of mix tapes...my lil Sony has shit the bed from making too many (not enough!) dubs all these years. tonight I replace that bad boy so expect review copies of; miracle - deep freeze (cold and dark drum and bass) miracle - lost and found (this one is dedicated to a lost and found friend), and the ever changing spy vs spy final draft, to hit the reviewers PO boxes sometime next week. tp OnNow: assembled 014/015 _________________________________ H a r r i s o n & T r o x e l l Aran M. I remember after that we pretty much housed the guy, albeit in a highly intelligent discourse. Then he came back with something lame like "Well at least I got you people to think." It was pretty pathetic. He wrote this because someone wrote an open letter to Tamara asking why the reviews were half-a-year old and maybe something along the lines that your magazine sucks also. She flamed him, and then chaos broke out on the list about this subject. Then at some point after Mr. Roberts broke in with the unsightly statement seen above, we all generally agreed that URB's review were untimely and the issue seemed to quickly died after that.
