Perhaps James doesn't want to be backed up, but I agree entirely. The new u-ziq stuff sounded a bit rough when he was supporting Orbital in April/May. When supporting Aphex it was a revelation - enough to make you forgive the mediocrity of a lot of Paradinas' recent output. Of course the album may not be as good as the live 'performance' but I doubt it. Then again, I'm only saying what my Virgin paymasters bid me. adam

Sadly, on the evidence of Urmur Bile Trax vol. 1, it seems I was wrong...based on an initial listen (to someone else's copy). Oh dear. adam

I have to say that I also heard the uziq set in manchester and thought it was terrible his DnB tracks were really really bad .The production was awful like all his tracks but worse as it is such an important factor with DnB, it's the melodies that are mike's strong point. I really hope he does'nt release this stuff as I think he will go down even faster than he is now.

It's true. He sounds almost as bad as the Aphex Twin himself these days. (tee hee) Miles

FOR REAL! I did a radio show recently in which I played basically a kaboodle of kuts by artists who (I quote from the show) "are showing you UP boy!" in a style which rich in many ways pioneered (experimental caustic funk). I'm wishing upon a star that the phorthcoming Caustic Window material makes me eat my hat...but I never thought I would be a "look before you leap" AFX buyer. As we used to do on IDM bak in the day, when you do some mudslingin' you offer up a garden hose of praise to wash away the negative, I would urge AFXofOLE fans to check out the latest ELECTRECORD which seems to be a split single between Third Electric and Kolute _MINDCOLLAPSE_ "everything by K"??? In a nutshelle, experimental speedy techno bass with ever so eerie tops. Perhaps my favorite record this year, and I know some people will simply hate it! ;) I'm accepting applications for a posse to help hunt down the people behind this stunning record. My own Trainspotting instincts are causing me to shake a finger at the Connection Machine for the simple fact that while I was staying with them in the Lowlands I learned of their propensity to suffer A.D.C. "after-dinner-collapse" and certainly they have the skills to put out such an alluring collage of electronica and the sneaky side to put it out w/o fanfare. Of course this is pure speculation, maybe I'll just ask them... Teep on now: Flughafen 2 - CiM

Isn't it customary to wait for April First to forge posts from Richard James? Though this post does ape his style of discourse very well. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Some stuff is obviously a lot more popular than other stuff" -- Tom Butcher Home Page, featuring Reagan on Black Velvet, the EMP Compilation CD, samples of my music, etc http://soli.inav.net/~kent/ Kent Williams kent@inav.net CADSI 2651 Crosspark Road Coralville IA 52241 (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)
