I posted a review of this 2xCD about three months ago.
I don't have my origianl review or the CD on hand hand
so I'll do a quickie off the top of my head.
The first disc is The Deepest Shade of Techno, vol. 1
which was released a few years ago on the now-defunct
detroit Reflective (not the same at the san fran label).
The first disc had tracks from UR, John Beltran, Claude
Young, DJ Tone, Octave One, Eddie Fowlkes, Dan Curtin,
Nu Era and Josh Wink.
The second disc is newer material packaged as The Deepest
Shade of Techno, vol 2. It has tracks by Todd Sines, Morgan
Geist, Titonton, UR, Claude Young, Q-Mog (?), Fannon Flowers,
and a few others.
As a whole, this 2xCD gave a good overview of what has
happened and what is happening in Detroit techno. There
isn't a whole lot of material that strict IDMers would be
into. But if you like your techno with a side of innovation,
this comp's for you. 8/10
BTW: This compilation was compiled by the 4Hero guys but
it has no drum and base... just techno.
Hope this helps!
