hPE> their first remix lp has some nice stuff but is outta print for hPE> legal reasons Ah. Rhythms, Resolutions and Clusters .... now there's an intelligent remix album ... Excellent stuff. hPE> and new 12"'s Tortoise vs. Oval and Tortoise vs. hPE> U.N.K.L.E. are worth a listen. the first is especially good, hPE> methinks, as it is correctly Oval vs. Toroise vs. hPE> Oval...Oval is sampled heavily in the original mix. The Much to my surprise I actually like the Oval remix 12", as I never liked Oval in the past. Their first album practically sent me off to sleep, the remix is pretty good in comparison. I prefer the U.N.K.L.E. remix up till now. Still some goodies to come ... Tortoise has (alledgedly) also been remixed by Scanner & Aphex Twin ... Helen OnNow: Autechre - Incunabula

Hi y'all, I realize I might be getting into dubious idm territory here, so flame if you must (or just reply privately, if you've got the info I'm asking for). The first Tortoise remix EP (U.N.K.L.E.) to come out was on City Slang (the UK label, but it was licensed from Thrill Jockey (USA)) and had the number Shell 001 on the label, but etched on the vinyl was Shell 002 (with the 2 scratched out and a 1 next to it). The second one to come out was remixed by Oval and came out on Thrill Jockey and had the number 12.3 (on the label and etched into the vinyl) *and* the store where I got it had put a label on it saying "Third Tortoise Remix EP". I asked them what the second one was (this is Reckless in Chicago (where Tortoise are from)) and they had *no* idea and said that these were the only two they had gotten. Any clues from anyone out there? Maybe the Scanner or Aphex are gonna be #2? Much thanks in advance for any info..... cya brian
