I was in HMVs recently and in the dance section there was a copy of Sabres of Paradise's "Septic Cuts" which looks like a compilation CD. Is this fairly representative of their work? I have enjoyed some of their tracks on mixed compilation CDs. Thanks for your help. Alec McKay

Don't touch that thing! It has stuff by other bands, maybe on their label or something, who are supposed to think similarly. The majority of the record sucks, in a retro-repetative annoying way. The Sabres song is good (although it could be two minutes shorter and be better), but I think you can find Smokebelch II somewhere else. I'm stuck with the thing. No record store will buy it. There's some story about how the US compilation is different than the UK one, which relates to the "Septic" part of the title, but I don't know it. babies@usa.pipeline.com

aaack. I have the UK version which is almost identical and it's one of my favorite CD's. Great stuff. T.
