I was so excited to hear the new Underworld album today. I was all excited to peel the wrapping from the CD and make a tape for my car and everything else. So I get on the phone and call Tower to see if they have it. They don't, its not even on order. I call another Tower, same story. And ANOTHER, its the same! Fuck Tower! So I call Best Buy, its on order, but it won't be in till next week. I call Blockbuster, yeah right. I call no less than FIVE indie shops and NONE OF THEM HAS THE NEW FUCKING UNDERWORLD! Why is this? Yikes! I had no trouble finding the new Autechre at the somewhat okay indie shops around here (of course, Amoeba had it for only $12 but so did most others). Tower, though, is a major chain store, and thus should not realistically be expected to carry all techno releases, which aren't big in America. So don't be so hard on them... they are, after all, catering to the pop-consuming public, and not to the small lunatic fringe that comprises this mailing list. As for Underworld... hmm... didn't see that one, but well, maybe the release date got pushed back or something due to bureaucratic stuff... happens all the time.
