One of the first things I discovered when I became addicted to IDM is that the 'rave' scene has little to do with it. When I first became interested in IDM, I found in talking to 'ravers' about the music they danced to night after night is that they knew absolutely nothing about it! Sure they knew the names of all the Dj's, and knew which ones they liked and which they didn't but they knew none of the artists or songs that they played. They bought Dj mix tapes, but had no idea about any of the artists on them. To me, this makes the rave scene no different than the disco scene of the seventies, the only difference being the hippie mentality and values of the sixties have been grafted on t[Co it. Dj's serve the rave culture by giving all those ravers something to dance to, but I find they have little to do with the music in my life. I've only been to three raves (one to see Aphex, another to see Orbital live) and that is more than enough for me. -Fresh ========================================================================= Fullerton College claims no responsibility to the opinion expressed above (This is an automatic stamp from our Email system and not from the user.) =========================================================================
