an interesting point was made in the argument for the chemical bros. recognizing chemical beats as quite the bomb a full two years back. the folks in the know had already heard/owned/promoted the fawned over and still slamming (but, fairly uncreative, as i hope to explain) "song to the siren" released en masse on jbo. however, it sure seems to me that the superstars of the us commercial scene followed a simple formula: sample a drum loop previously employed by meatbeat manifesto, then string a dead can dance sample over the top of it. instant genius? i think not... but it got feet in the door for the still too heralded future sound of london. and just when you thought the same old thing had played itself out to the point of formula, local boys atoi (ambient temple of imagination) pass the "integration" ep, complete with dj mink drumbeat and alas, dead can dance samples. good records, fun to dance to and easily recognized. genius? only in the marketing sense. ______________________________________________________________________________ Cameron psu00110@odin.cc.pdx.edu Blacksmith on the anvil in your ear Electronica for the Jaded and Discerning ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Without knowing which actual track they snatched the loop from, Renegade Soundwave deserve props as the programmers of the beat from "Biting My Nails." eh
