I want to make a 100 minute tape of the Black Dog. Unfortunately, I don't pay much attention to the song names, so I'm not sure what I want to put on. Could you die-hard Dog fans send me your fave songs from: Temple of Transparent Balls, Bytes, Parallel, Spanners, and Repeat? E-mail me at babies@usa.pipeline.com thanks Kevin R.

Well, technically Repeat isn't Black Dog. Im sure if Ken could hear you he'd gag at the thought of putting Ed and Andy's "tired electro" on the same tape. That aside, dont forget the excellent Plaid ep on Clear. What tracks? im not sure I can find a bad one among them so make a few volumes and do the whole lot. :: Alan M. Parry :: fluid@hyperreal.com :: <finger me for PGP key> :: http://hyperreal.com/~fluid xtraidm: Saw STOMP last weekened in Philadelphia. Incredible. I have the rest of the US dates if anyones interested, its worth looking out for.

I'm still surprised that Repeat has been paid so little attention here. It's not as flashy as Spanners, but it rewards careful attention in spades. Anybody who helped put Parallel at the top of the charts owes themselves a listen.

I have to second that emotion. REPEATS is a remarkable debut, and worth a little more conversation(especially on this list, as repeats' material is as "abstract" as you can get), but perhaps those on this list haven't gotten the LP yet, so maybe we'll give it time, Miles. I'm hoping for Kapellmeister, Stasis & Monojunk albums in the future(on vinyl, I hope) from A13, as this may be the future of "abstract electronica" & will set the 21st century standard for this type of muzik(or muzak...) I actually like "Repeats" better than "Spanners" as an IDM album I can listen to from start to end. With respect to killer tracks, though, "Repeats" has nothing like "Barbola Work", despite several really lovely tracks... OnNow: JDJ Coldcut. Repeats goes quite deep.. Just put it on a tape and then listen to it on your walkman too much while traveling etc.. It's real good, it's in my ten for 95, ooh, it's nice.. Yep. || Peel Seamus - m.w.j.vanderwielen@student.utwente.nl ||

I'd have to say two things: 1) that ep is really Plaid and not Black Dog as we know it, and 2) it's really weak IMO. Later, Mohsen OnNow: Fila Brizillia (Maim that tune) on Pork

Hi and thanks to all of you fellars telling me that I am lucky to have found such a rare Black Dog. I'm sorry, but I'm not in the habit of buying records and selling them for profit (I just want the music, and when I like it, then there's no way I'm parting with it). I do occasionally buy two copies of a sought after record, but always sell it a at the normal price or trade it for something I want. Anyways. In the unlikely event I get fed up with it, I know where to post my for trade message ... greets, Helen p.s. I still have one shrinkwrapped HAB II going spare ... OnNow: Mesmer 'variations' OnBefore: Wire Tribute CD 'Whore' OnNext: Underworld 'second toughest in the infants'
