Here's the limited info so far:
There are two labels releasing this crazy stuff so far:
Nuclheads and Hardhead. About 8(?) releases between the two and one name
seems to crop up on the credits of at least three of the records: Mills (!)
. Doubtfull that it's Jeff Mills as these tracks sound NOTHING like the AXIS
material. The record in question is on Nucleheadz and is by K-Life & DJ
Booman and the tracks contained within are: Puff a lotta weed, Taxi, Come on
bus.
So hard to describe what these records sound like. Imagine your average
Dancemania record (DJ Funk Street Trax for example) mixed in with cut up
cheezy samples (as in the Taxi theme or Michael Jackson's
mamasay-mamasa-mamatusa) and breakbeats pitched down to 120(ish). Throw in
some 4/4 in between, add a touch of Viewlexx and a pounding portion of BASS.
The result is the birth of the Baltimore Sound.
I'm still reeling from playing this stuff on the Saturday show on @ ZBC....

P.S. Tune in to 90.3, 11-2 on Sat nights in Beantown for yours truly (acidburn)
P.P.S. Be sure to check out the 2-6 supermix that's on right after (resident
turntable technician Teep, DJ Bunyik and Prime Minister, the sinister DJ Duo.
P.P.P.S. Duo was ON this last Saurday: DMC's the Bells got the workout of
the year!
