...a local DJ was spinning some godawfully boring breakbeats on the
local college radio station here... (WGDR of goddard college, very
cool station. plays lots of experimental, zoviet france,
painkiller, acid, techno, and zorn, can, faust, the residents, the
boredoms, coil, nurse with wound... john cage, steve reich.
everything... -except idm.)
at one point she said:
'call up and make a request if you want to hear anything...
but ask for techno... some people call up here and
ask for natalie cole... <laughs>'
and i think.... 'hmmm. maybe they that new air liquide...'
so i called, and the conversation went something like this:
moi: 'hullo, can you play some air liquide please?'
them:' A La Queen?' (that's what she said)
moi: 'AIR LIQUIDE'
them: 'what queen?'
moi: 'A-I-R LIQUIDE...'
them: i don't understand...
(i give up on Air Liquide, and try CJ Bolland)
moi: forget it, do you have anything by CJ Bolland?
them: CT Boredland?
moi: 'CJ Bolland, he used to be on R&S in Europre...'
them: 'CB Dorland?'
moi: 'CJ BOLLAND!'
them: 'what?'
moi: 'CJ BOOOOOLAAAAANNNNDDDD!!!!!!!'
them: '..i... don't understand...'
(i give her the spelling and hang up. i did not hear any CJ
Bolland..)
