...which focusses my musical obsessions of the last six months or so into one, 100-minute package (minus the jungle I've been messing around with -- I'm saving that for another tape). The music runs the gamut from hard to soft, synthetic to tribal, minimal to maximal, stupid to intelligent. It's all music that flies the banner of techno proudly, even if some of it is techno masquerading as electro, acid house, or hard house. My personal favorite labels (R&S, Sabrettes) and cities (Detroit, Chicago) are represented strongly here. I happen to think it's a collection of solid tunes competently (if not always expertly) mixed by yours truly. This is the second version of this tape; although the mixing on the first version was much closer to flawless, it was definitely lacking in the spunk and playfulness (read: willingness to fuck up big-time in the search for an interesting mix) that I think characterizes my best mixing. Although there's a few woofer mixes on this tape, its imperfection pleases me, because it allows my scatterbrained lack of discipline to show through in all of its blazing glory. The tracklisting runs as follows: The State of My Art MkII Recorded live, in one take, Monday, April 24 Featuring the trusty Denon 2000F, the singular SL1200MkII, and the USS Ticonderoga Breathe: The Source Experience - Unknown Territory (R&S) RAC - Oscillator (Warp) Psychick Warriors ov Gaia - Ensnared (Kk) Robert Armani - Moon Lights (ACV) Subculture - Cult Drums (Sabrettes) Jeff Mills - DNA (Tresor) Planetary Assault Systems Remix (Cosmic) Infiniti - Flash Flood (Metroplex) Shiver - Subsonic Soundscape (Shiver) Air Liquide - Theme From Robot Wars (Sm:)e) Tournesol - A (R&S) Vainquer - Lyot [Maurizio Mix] (Basic Channel) * Innersphere - Vernal Equinox (Sabrettes) * Aphex Twin - SAW II 1:9 (Warp) Listen: Aphrohead - One March (Power Music) Aphrohead - Thee Industry Made Me Do It (Power Music) Public Energy - Three O' Three (Probe) Robert Armani - Jason (ACV) Hardfloor - Mustard Cornflakes (Harthouse) Underground Resistance - The Final Frontier (Underground Resistance) Plastikman - Spastik (+8) Inky Blacknuss - Desolator (Sabrettes) Scan 7 - 21st Century (Metroplex) Source - The Real Thing (R&S) * Psychick Warriors ov Gaia - Push (Kk) * Eden Transmission - Transmission: Maya (Exist Dance) * denotes tracks that will only fit on 100-minute tapes. If any of y'all are interested in getting a copy, please let me know. I'd be interested in trading other DJs copies of their own mixtapes, and I'd be particularly interested in trading for any recent Jeff Mills or Robert Leiner tapes. Also, if there's anybody out there that I still owe a tape to for various favors granted, please get in touch with me and I'll earmark a tape special just for you. yrz ozy ozymandias G desiderata personal info : http://www.mbc.umt.edu/ogd/ discographies : http://www.mbc.umt.edu/ogd/aaxz/discogs Missoula raves: http://www.mbc.umt.edu/ogd/raves/
