There is a pretty good acid compilation called "Acid House Classics" on Touchstone (UK). 20 tracks by the likes of Mr Lee, DJ Pierre, Maurice Joshua, Jack Frost & others. Acid Trax is not on it, tho :( Rhino Records (US) has a pretty cool electro comp called "Street Jams-Electric Funk" I have the first two volumes. Volume 1 has Planet Rock ( Afrika Bambaata & SSF), Electric Kingdom (Twilight 22), Play at your own risk (Planet Patrol), Mirda Rock (Reggie Griffin & Technofunk), Who you stealin from (Guru), Al-Naafiysh (Hashim), Clear (Cybotron), Release Yourself (Aleem), Rockit (Herbie Hancock), Jam on revenge (Newcleus), Crazy Cuts (Gradmixer D.ST. & Bernard Fowler), D.ST. also has a mega mix on it Volume 2 has Siberian NIghts (twilight 22), Computer Age (Newcleus), Egypt, Egypt (the Egyptian Lover), Pack Jam (the Jonzun Crew), R-9 (Cybotron), Jam on it (Newcleus), 122 BPM (Jive Rhythm Trax), Let the music play (Shannon), Young Ladies (Fast Lane) and Funky Little Beat (Connie). the volume goes into freestyle but it is still cool. Rhino has put out some great Hip-Hop, Soul and Funk compilations. I wouldnt be surprised if they come out with an acid house one in the Phuture ;-) Happy Neu Year!! ~~~bleep~~~bleep~~~transmat@teleport.com

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ahhh, those tracks are f***in great. Brings back memories of pulling out the big cardboard mat from under the bed, spinning myself silly and pop-lockin after school with my friends. I would give my right testical to get Electric Kingdom back on vinyl. ; ) Queens rocks to the Planet Rock, Brooklyn rocks to the Planet Rock Boston rocks the to the Planet Rock, IDM rocks to the Planet Rock.. sashainboston sasha@tiac.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the beginning, there was Jack And Jack had a grooove, And from this groove came the grooves of all grooves, And while one day, viciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared, "this is really good ham". -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Along the same lines: for x-mas someone gave me: a comp called "jointz from back in da day" on quality records. party train (the gap band), give it to me baby (rick james), let it whip (the dazz band), Planet Rock (afrika bambaataa & the soul sonic force), The dream team is in the house (l.a dream team), The message (grandmaster flash, furious five, melle mel, duke bootee) hey dj (world famous supreme team), al naafyish (hashim), jam on it (newcleus), I need a freak (sexual harassment) um. "joy and pain" rob base and dj ez rock. ? and white lines (don't do it) grandmaster & melly mel. fun to hear these on cd, esp. the message and jam on it. altho too bad they didn't put some other track in place of joy n pain. and jam on it is shorter than it should be. -b
