I really got into Drukqs only a few months ago, when I grabbed the mp3s (and Analord) off of bittorrent to listen to at work. I put drukqs and analord on shuffle play and went back to figuring out how to read DICOM image files, and after a few shuffles through I decided it was way better than listening to the CD had been when it came out. I liked the Analord tracks because they remind me a lot of the stuff he was doing early on, without being the same thing over again. Drukqs also comes into a new focus if you listen to the arrangements on the Alarm Will Sound Acoustica CD. Some of the Alarm Will Sound renditions are of the talking dog variety -- a talking dog is amazing, even if he doesn't talk very well -- but it made me listen to the Drukqs tracks again the way the arrangers did -- hearing all the bits in the RDJ arrangements that slid by unnoticed before. I don't think anyone should get by with weak tracks just because they're famous, but Aphex Twin is a sneaky bastard, and you can miss some of his best stuff if you aren't listening closely.
