that's exactly why i don't post tops of the year lists. Most of the music i listen to is either 2 or 3 years old.
I also believe that's part of the reason why so many releases get lost in the shuffle, as if it's not talked about in the first year of release, it doesn't get talked about after that. A tops of 2002-04 would work much better for me personally, but most people seem to be caught up in the now rather than the best. There's so many new releases and new labels that to get a good indication of what are people's favourite releases are, you'd need 2 years at least for most people to get a proper 'tops' list.

the sad thing about a lot of independent music is so much of it
doesn't get to make yearly top tens because it takes so long to
filter through and get heard and bought by people, the year's over
before someone discovers it.
