Good point -- I don't mind the terminology -- just the implication that the music was 'too' Chicano/Mexicano/whatever is strange to me -- for me it's either good music or it isn't. Right? I'm not much of a norteno fan to be honest but I like what Nortec are doing with those samples, it's fun, and exactly because it's so Chicano. If they were just using samples of 70s disco instead then I wouldn't be so interested I don't think... Actually 'Nortec' is a bunch of people, right, with styles all over the place from what I've heard of them...I'm only commenting on the performance Saturday night really, there were about 4 people behind the laptops during Nortec's set but I have no idea who they were.
