Hi All-
Sound Artist Liz Phillips has a new interactive installation,
"Resound/Soundscreen", currently on exhibit in the Walter Reade Theater at
Lincoln Center. The piece utilizes various motion sensors and capacitance
fields to trigger and shift sounds through unconventional loudspeakers, such
as a nautilus shell, a vase, and a table. You play the piece as you move
about the room. Liz has been doing this kind of work for the past 30 or so
years, and has exhibited at places like the Whitney, Ars Electronica, and
the Walker Art Center. The show is free and up through the 28th. I am
usually there from 1 to 6 on the weekdays, so be sure to say hi to the guy
with the computer sitting in the corner if you stop in.
Josh
