the synth rock thread- I've kept track of what James Plotkin has been up to for many years. Since mid 90's dark ambient days he has done a lot of amazing stuff. Not even mentioning the Pole split 12" there's- Atomsmasher- " Atomsmasher" : digital metal, laptop grind...seek more in depth reviews- there are many out there. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much tighter and better thought out than DHR or most things like it. The first 49 seconds of track 3 make it worth the purchase. Flux -the most sadly underrated rock band of the late 90's. Mix power -trio prog pop with Neu Deutsch Welle, add tension and trebly production. Trifid Project: nervous guitar pop, crunchy synth and production, again with homage to NDW as well as Factory and Post punk. more synth rock? -Calla- certainly not a synth band and certainly not "rock" but yet consistently amazing. Hopefully they will get their propers soon. A Brooklyn band combining ambient textures, bluesy guitar twang and dirge atmospheres. Solo idm-ish project out - "Ten Ecke" and a Kitty Yo remix project. religion thread, was "Christian idm"- Huh? To me, when it comes to music, one's religion/ spritual/ metaphysical bent should be about as important as one's race, sexual preference or political affiliation- not at all. I tend to listen to, I dunno... the -music- ? Call me crazy. Sometimes I wonder why people crave categorization so much. I listen to music made by whites, blacks, Arabs, Ethiopians, Christians, Jews, pagans, satanists, anarchists, Republicans, sociopaths, homosexuals, buddhists, dissidents, ravers, soccer moms and many many other types/categories of peoples. So far, I've never drawn myself to one particular model or path. Its a big world and theres a lot to listen to. Peter np: Stars of the Lid- Tired Sounds of ( i don't know what their religious preferences are but this is a gorgeous CD - a double on Kranky ) _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
