Just got back from my routine excursion the the local music shop to drop my
wages on what deems to be worthy and what did I find but a jewel of a
record. 'Twerk - Now I'm rendered useless'. This album is amazing and by far
the best lp from Twerk to date. I was expecting something more along the
lines of his 'humantics' release but this was nothing of the sort. The album
is a mixture of what seems to be idm, techno and house somehow mashed into
some new hybrid of computer funk. The lp starts off with 'unit_onjer' and
lemme just say that upon hearing this first track, I knew I was in for
something special. The music is so well handcrafted, so detailed with
intricacy it took me several listens just to catch some of the small
microscopic edits and sounds that often only appear once. mind you it's not
over the top with trickery and remains viable for dance floor even though
I'll be most apt to listen at home. The album also contains a couple of
Twerk's ambients pieces that I have come to love through his work with Mille
Plateaux and Jake Mandells Kodama series. This by far is the best minimal
techno i have heard in a while. Highly recommended!!
