In late 1998, there was talk about a Neuromancer movie directed by Chris Cunningham (Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Bjork, etc. vids.). Then there were rumors of him relegated to the role of second unit director (and maybe also of him not being implicated in the project anymore... I'm not sure about that). Numerous times (and very late) after its unveiling, the first information was rehashed by several media (such as NME). The second information hasn't really caught on, it seems. It then appeared that the project was seeing more activity, according to a rep from Seven Arts, who possess the rights for the movie. The rep also said that Cunningham was still to direct. Later, Cunningham apparently stated that he was working on the script for the movie with William Gibson (the book's author). Another rumor came up around the same time: Cunningham was to co-direct the movie with Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, etc.). But the site that released the rumor backtracked on it. Then, nothing. Hope this clears things up. See <http://www.corona.bc.ca/films/details/neuromancer.html> for reference. (This page doesn't mention the "second unit director" rumor, though.) g. -- Guillaume Grenier - gollum@videotron.ca in space there is no north in space there is no south in space there is no east in space there is no west --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
