_____________________________________________
Surgery Records was formed in1998 to promote the wealth
of emerging talent in the Adelaide experimental electronic
music scene to the rest of Australia and internationally.
Surgery's first batch of local signing's showcases the broad
range of styles present in the Adelaide experimental electronic
music scene. It is a clear demonstration of Surgery's commitment
to not focus heavily on any one particular sub-genre.
Local releases range from the emotive and melodic post pop
sensibilities of 'Super Science', the harsher retro sound of homemade
analog heads, 'Modula', and to the 'somewhere-in-between' dense
rhythmic harmonies of Tim Koch, a.k.a. Thug. Tim Koch is already
well known locally and is starting to be noticed internationally for
his previous releases on Sydney imprint 'Aural Industries' and his
various contributions to local and overseas compilations. Tim has
been involved in putting together the first Surgery compilation 'Initial
Release'. This two CD set contains both local and international
artists from such diverse destinations as Russia, Estonia, Brazil,
Belgium, Finland, the US, NZ, and of course Britain. It showcases a
broad cross-section of fresh electronica.

Biographies ::
"Surgery Records is pleased to present the first commercial Super
Science release, 'Love Like Life In miniature.' Even in its utilization of
novel electronic sounds, of strange pops and clicks, this is a record that
is firmly rooted in the exploration of the more 'traditional' elements of
melody and harmonics. It finds a perfect middle ground between the
experimental and the accessible. Emerging always from the intricacies of
these lucid electronic constructions is a very audible emotional statement.
This is personal music about life, and love."
"Modula's first release on Surgery records, aptly titled "Audio Dismantle"
is a showcase of the Modula approach to sonic de-construction. All tracks
are 'played' live using a combination of both ancient analogue synths and
home baked constructions assembled from old game console components. The
resultant mix is a blend of atmospheric haze and aggressive rhythm, at times
sublime and melodic and at others harsh and distorted. Step sequencing, home
made drum machines, poorly maintained and even broken synthesizers combined
with aging effects processors make this a definitively analogue sounding
release. Not for purists, experimental electronica at its jammist. (Look Ma,
no digital)."
