I pretty much avoid everything with a four-on-the-floor beat, but music I adore includes but is not limited to: classical - particularly from the romantic and impressionistic periods blues and some rock'n'roll 60s and 70s rock (Beatles, Sabbath, ELP, Donovan, Eagles...) 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s pop (Dusty Springfield, Diana Ross, Aguilera, Queen...) 90s rock (Radiohead, Weezer, Greenday, Living End, Ben & Jason...) funk (Earth Wind & Fire, Prince, Larry Graham...) metal (Gwar, Korn, Pantera, most artists on Roadrunner and associated labels) hiphop (Funkdoobiest, Cypress, Tribe Called Quest, Dre, Anticon, Beasties...) crooners (Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Frankie Vaughan, Tony Bennett, Sinatra) jazz (Armstrong, Fitzgerald, Monk, Gershwin...) ballad-types (Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, Spiritualized...) drum'n'bass (jazzy, funky, dark and hard, jump-up, intelligent) downtempo (portishead, howie b...) reggae, dub and dancehall some IDM mongrel cross-breeds of these types of music make me very happy indeed =) my three favourite things in music are: funk influence dissonant chords smooth melodies that don't match the chords but sound great anyway hope that was interesting for y'all.

On Friday night at the Xen thing, their performance was breathtaking, especially the visuals. For me, the music left quite a lot to be desired for the most part, but had occasional moments of greatness. The bit with the vocal samples really rang my bell. My housemate went out and bought their album first thing on Saturday afternoon so I expect I'll be hearing a fair bit in the near future.
