There's a nice recent CD compilation of Sonig stuff (via Thrill Jockey) just
called "Sonig comp." that provides a convenient introduction to all this -
tracks by F. X. Randomiz and Lithops (both of whom will probably come close
to your standards for "speedy distorted funkiness slushed together with
those goofy askewed melodies"), Microstoria (more Powerbook-y bleeping and
blooping), Vert (a very quiet meditative piece that's mainly built around a
Satie-ish grand piano with subtle electronics skittering around the edges)
and Wang Inc. (static grooves with lots of sounds like little wind-up music
boxes).
