I've always found that 'interesting' music and study are mutually exclusive.
I've had some success doing maths to EP7, and some stuff to BoC, but in
general the only thing that works is simple, repetitive, poppy techno
(Underworld are good) or simple repetitive indie/punk. They've got enough
energy to keep me awake and cheerful, but relatively little distraction
value. The also have the benefit of being loud enough to remove possible
distractions, and provide a predictable environment. In contrast, my one
attempt to do chemistry (hard enough to concentrate on at the best of times)
to the Orb ended 30 seconds in, when I lost all interest in the work, and
drifted off into psychedelic daydreams. It was quite enjoyable, but not
entirely productive.
