Hello, My favorite part of the articles was: ``It's the same music they use at sporting events to get the crowd excited,'' she said. ``It has all that passion, and they're going to recognize that, and I think everyone will feel comfortable.'' I do not know which games she goes to, but I've yet to hear decent electronic music at any stadium game in Detroit. I know what you mean by the over-hyping of Detroit music, obviously there was a huge Detroit influence in early IDM and much electronic music since, but it isn't like we had something like Nordwest Deustcher Runkfunk in the early 1950's. Although Ann Arbor(University town 30 minutes west of Detroit) did have really bitchin' Bell Audio Lab that did a lot of ground breaking research and development in audio electronics in the 50's and 60's...but that is another thread. I will say that I checked out the DEMF yesterday, and it was really special. It was not geared towards jaded purists, but more about regular people who might not have access to electronic music through normal media channels. It was good to see families with small children walking around taking it in, and perhaps realizing that electronic music is about more than "rave-danger" spots in tabloid news. Tikiman/chain reaction was excellent, as was D-wynn and Theo Parrish. Bill VanLoo apparently had a great set, I missed it, but people were talking about it all afternoon. After the festival ended I met up with a few people at the 430west party ( http://www.430west.com ) and caught Octave One live, which was the best part of the day as far as I'm concerned. A bit later we headed over to 7th City ( http://www.7thcity.com ) and saw John Tejada play a nice set in a 15'x20' room. I got there at five in the afternoon yesterday, and walked in the door at 5:30 this morning. There is definitely excitement in the air, and it is going to be an interesting night. I am looking forward to tomorrow. Take care, Mike Taylor PS what up kemp? Jeff Shoemaker wrote:
