Somebody was talking about rock bands remixing idm artists and vice
versa -- while someone (can't remember) was saying that this often
leads to bad versions of the original song, something better can arise
from the idm/rock mix.
The Flaming Lips are using more and more electronic instruments and
talk about afx and uZiq in interviews (while it is not IDM, have a
listen to their new album The Soft Bulletin which is simply AMAZING).
While these names are not as actual as L'Usine or if.then.else, I think
it's a nice way to start the transition.
Does anybody know of any other non-cheesy, non-commercial groups that
use electronic sounds but keep their original style? (I can only think
of post-rock bands for the moment)
Maybe Mogwai...never heard it though
I'm in the mood to listen to more of this weird stuff...
