I think the problem here is the lack of differentiation between having a
hip-hop influence and wearing it on your sleeve. You can listen and take
notice of some of the textures created by hip-hop's arrangements and put
them in your work, and this is not limited to putting BUM BUM A-CHUKK
beats under everything. I like BUM BUM A-CHUKK, it's hip-hop's easiest
identifiable trait, but there are lots of others that people have
learned from that I think some are ignoring.
So in summary: Hip Hop FEEL and Hip Hop INFLUENCE are not the same thing.
