James Brown was also, as mentioned in this thread and others ad infinatum,
*the* model for funk rhytmn samples ( duh....."funky drummer"...sorry for being
so obvious). Many of the sample artists often mentioned on this list were
doodling
with JB horns and mid 70s JB material for *years* before they got tired of
it and moved on.
Also I must agree with someone's recent post that JB does have a machine like
grace. Though the *funk* is definitely a *human* vibe ( and should stay
that way)
it also comes through with so many of the machine music
maestros...Kraftwerk was
mentioned in this thread.
