I love that DJ Crystl track - the MC, Smiley the Ghetto Child I believe is American but Crystl is definitely British (and has a background as a grafiti artist). There was another brilliant DJ Crystl track called "Perpetual Motion" which featured another American rapper which is brilliant and is of a similar calibre to "183". I also have an early Crystl single called "King of the Beats" from 1994 which has some great elements in it (though just proto-jungle music rather than music and rap). Action Records have "183" double CD in their sale for £1.50 so its not much of a risk to check it! I can't shed a lot of light except to say that I bought a recent-ish DJ CRYSTL single (after it became an oft played accompaniment - and somehow familiar and good - to driving around London on tour) called '183' which is a solid and infectious rap track. Only other stuff I know, though I don't know for 100% definite but I would think this is a British artist. A collaboration with Shyloc (from The Brotherhood [another British rap act]) on some of the mixes on the single supports this as well. That's the extent of the info I have on this - I'm sure other folk will have plenty more... If you liked the track on Textures then try the '183' single. Rubyjune.
