Well, it definitely is taste. I've always found this kind of stuff very hammed sounding, not emotional but just melodramatic, with all the Vangelis string stylings etc. (I also think 'Planetary Folklore' is great, at least for that soul tune in the middle.. crikey!) But what I really want to say is that I remember around the time of 'Electro Soma' B12 used to get dissed on here for being like Autechre minus the interesting bits. Not a call I'd make, despite far preferring what Ae were doing at the time, but the point I want to make is that it's indicative of the fact that "the good old days" was never something that was agreed upon on this list. (Well, since 94.. how long has the list been around?)
