hmm... i like it and all, but it's just *too* long. eighty minutes is a
long time for ten faster-paced songs. he could have easily chopped 15
minutes off the album, and i think it would have made the whole thing a
lot more listenable. it's just too long to keep you on the edge of your
seat. even life of the mind ends up being too long and repetitive. right
through the sample from whatever that is (someone talked about it once,
but i forget now), it's really killer, but then it goes into the little
repeated horn part over and over and over and over and... i dunno, it
just feels like time for time's sake.
i remember being upset when i heard that the RDJ album was only going to
be 33 minutes long. that album sounds more complete to me in less than
half the time then dn'b for papa does in almost an hour and a half.
so, all in all, i like it, but if i had to do it over again, i most
likely would have bought something else. not a classic to these ears.
does anyone else agree?
