was just wondering how much royalties does one pay for sampling rights...
(if you are honest enough to give credit for the samples and get permission
to use them) ... and WHO gets the royalties from this? the label (because
they basically own the artists' material on the label) or the artist (because
he/she/they are the creative originators) ??? is it a "set price" (like
mechanical royalties are1 to 2 cents per air play)
the reason I ask, is because I wonder how much money SKAM and/or FREEFORM got
from U2 for the sample they used in "Discotheque"
(just something that popped into my head at 3:18 AM)
