Hey everybody, Intellectual Property on the Web is a serious problem and some answers can be found in the Graphic Artist's Guild "Pricing and Ethical Guidelines" book. Make sure you look at the latest edition which was copyrighted in '96 I believe. What happened to Gonzi is happening all over the web and, frankly, it shows how uncreative individuals have an easy outlet to steal that which they cannot create. Although, the book focuses on graphical guidlines, the issues can easily be ported over to any intellectual content. These laws are newly emerging (I deal with this crap every day with clients who think they own shit when you design it for them and feign complete ignorance to licensing issues). Don't assume anything about web IE issues, because the laws of traditional media don't apply here. Also, take a look at http://www.gistics.com and http://www.mediaauteur.com for some more fun with Intellectual Property Rights without the exorbitant attorney's fees! Michael Moon is a pioneer in this field on the web and has some very practical info. Sorry about the long email. I'm just pissed. -easy Marie http://www.floatingcode.com
