Well, just thought I'd give my support to this opinion as well. I've recently started with this DJ business, had my first gig last October or something, and I'm not very brilliant beatmixing, but the only ones who seem to care shit about it are crap trance djs who's been to too many raves. I play what I want to play, make my mixes smooth and mix whatever I want instead of this +-4bpm kinda thing. Hell, I mix Depth Charge with Squarepusher with Slaz with The Black Dog. As long as the music is rocking, so is the people on the floor. And so am I. I don't think very many give a shit about the music not being beatmixed, but instead the selection. Those who do give a shit has some serious problem to take care of. As long as it doesn't get gallopey. I personally would much rather freak out to music that I'm surprised by than one hour of 120bpm songs. Once again, my 0.2. G' night. Fe.
