Have any of you tried to optimize an MP3 file? Since I have become such
a huge fan of MP3 downloads lately I've found a whole bunch of music I'm
sure I could never find elsewhere (Big thanks to the IDM list for this).
The problem I'm having however is that the fidelity isn't very good. No
true high notes and no deep bass notes. I would really like to bring
these files into Cool Edit and get them sounding better. I've tried this
already with Mini-Discs with limited success, but I wonder if any of you
out there have any other methods? Also since I'm no musician I don't
know if it's actually *possible*. As a designer I could say maybe it's
like trying to optimize a gif or a jpg. It's already compressed so there
isn't much you can do to make it look better without rebuilding it. Is
the same true with music?
