If I recall correctly, he didn't say it was *better* because it reminded
him of punk, just that it *did* remind him of punk. As a style of music,
punk has certain redeeming qualities, notably the ability to convey raw
testosterone-fuled anger and rebellion. All Mike D. is saying is that
this style of electronic music shares that quality with punk. And while
I'm not in a position to comment on whether he's right or not, I would
say that the 'anger' present in Autechre is quite different from the
anger present in most punk.
