Just got a copy of the forthcoming CD by Console -- "Rocket in the Pocket" -- from Matador Records (this may have been licensed from Payola, not sure). Apparently it's the guy from Notwist... Anyway, on first listen, it's some really nice stuff -- elements of some early IDM heroes, a little bit o' Bochum Welt & some vintage synth fetishism... Matador's obviously trying to score another Boards of Canada here, and while I'm not sure it's quite on that level, there's definitely plenty of nu-nu-wave melody to keep the kids happy. Really well produced, lots of textural nuance, and some darned addictive breaks. Keep yr eyes peeled.
