(Meat Beat, "top Techno band"? Hmmn (-: ) Actually, if you read the SoCal-Raves Calendar, this wouldn't have surprised you so much: Friday, June 21 - Saturday, June 22. ? - by Kingfish? 3 day event. Live performances by top UK acts (probably some Brothers and a few spherical things ;). In the San Bernardino Mountains. More TBA. (http://socal-raves.org/calendar/events.htm)

Actually, Big Bear is just a piece of Vermont that was transplanted onto the top of a 9000 ft. flat plateau, so the natives wouldn't know they'd been moved. (-: It's about 90 miles inland from downtown Los Angeles, and it's a beautiful place. Something our non-US readers might not know is that at the right times of year, it's actually possible to drive down to the beach, get a sunburn in the morning, leave the beach by Noon, drive a couple of hours, and go skiing for the rest of the afternoon. I've actually done this ...

Well, that's kinda debatable. Personally Plantasia (Mixmaster Morris, Young American Primitive, Carl Craig, Adam X DJ'ing) was a highlight, and of course the aborted Vaporspace/Aphex/Orbital/Moby event that almost happened, and for sheer "biggest" I doubt it would exceed Millennium (14,000) or K-Rave (17,000). Personally though I think they should call it "Tribal Gathering" and ship everyone else who was supposed to play at TG over here and say it's the makeup event (-: - Greg (Who would personally rather be at Sonar the week before than see The Orb/Orbital/Meat Beat/Chemical Brothers, since I've seen 'em all)
