Why bother? I bought Jacob's Optical Stairway and was SO impressed I could have imploded right there. Then I bought this 4 Hero Mr. Kirk single thing, for less than a dollar, because I'd heard that Dego et.al are 4 Hero. Egad, I thought, as to my utter terror I listened to the ultracliched protodancic shit of "Energize" mix, this is just, just- awful... one of those gimmicky sample house-esque shit mainstream "dance" tunes! Aargh! So I removed the tape form my car stereo, and threw it out the window at some minivan. However, I found "Parallel Universe" today, and got it, just to see, you know... and wow, almost imploded again... damn fine jungle stuff, just like JOS only slightly less refined, but... well, woweee. Thing is, I ponder to this day: how does the wonderous jungle creations of 4 Hero get mutated into the utterly non-jungle, non-jazzy, non-intelligent, and, dare I say it, non-musical shit techno of that Mr. Kirk single? God, someone should do something about this, before the trend continues and we find AFX tunes being overlaid with diva vocals, hi hats, plain ole undistorted 4/4 beats, thier musical guts replaced by two note plain synthy happidanci riffs, and marketed to the masses as such... God, what a nightmare... oh, the humanity....
