I totally & utterly agree. Almost everything any of Wire's member ever did
is brilliant (okay, okay, I never tasted the sprouts Robert Gotobed grew on
this farm in Wales, but still..). The Gilbert albums could all be considered
"ambient" (although I prefer "experimental", or just "wire & related", which
is a separate style to me), and I was very pleased to find mr. Richard D.
James playing large chunks of Gilbert's "This Way" album when he DJ'd over
here in Amsterdam a couple of years ago.
While we're on the subject.... does anyone know if Gilbert's latest release,
a 12" or album which I think is called "Ab Ovo", was ever released? It was
supposed to be out through Mute a while ago, but I haven't been able to find it.
