for me the basic reference is dub (the style) and rain (the natural
phenomenon). myu-ziq and tietchens are, in my eyes, strange comparisons...
tell me more.

not all of the material on the comp is based on basic channel vinyl. one
(two?) tracks are same as the vinyl versions, some are, as CiM says,
generally fucked.

yes. the feel of the cd comp, as has been pointed out earlier (by dave
walker?), is different to the vinyl however. the vinyl tracks are very long
usually, between 12 to 25 minutes, and what makes the basic channel vinyl
special is the resulting spaciousness, and what makes them fascinating is
how they don't get boring or, rather, annoying (boring/not boring is a
distinction that doesn't really make sense with this kind of music).

the listing in will-e's comp is indeed reversed.

i'll fix this as soon as i can access the server again (which is different
to the one i get my mail from). hopefully next week i'll be back (with
updates again).
all i can say right now is that apparently basic channel are moritz von
oswald = maurizio, plus marc ernestus. it seems other people have worked on
those records as well, but apart from jeff mills on bc #1 (obvious) i don't
know details (please fill me in). i'm also not sure when the records came
out, but i suspect the first one came out late in 92, and the last one (#9;
my favourite) october 94.
all of them should still be available.
i also plan to include the m (for maurizio) releases with the discog. i
have #4 (the one james refers to), ploy, and domina. i don't have any
others (e.g. #4.5). any help would be appreciated!
new discogs on my page next week:
shockwave (bad kreuznach)
profan (cologne) (mike ink's label ---does anyone have profan #1 ??)
planned:
cheap (vienna)
greets!
