I'm eventually goingto get flamed for repeatedly invoking His Name, but THE MAN, none other than Richard Kirk, fills that void in rare times when I become sick of Bytes. (It happens!) Not *all* Richard Kirk or even *any* (that I have heard, which is admittedly minimal and recent though I am working on that) but just Virtual State, which somehow captures that epic ambience of wherever Bytes can take you. It throws you all around and paints you lots o' landscapes. I'd even say that Kirk borrowed a little from Bytes for that album, but this is based as I said on a narrow experience of Kirk. Mind you, I am quite bored by Spanners xcept for tracks 1 & 5 so ymmv. einexile, kirkhead, always helpful and has a dancing octopus on his pc
