Looks like the next release from the new label that brought us the Amorphous
Androgynous CD will be "V/A: House of Acid Jazz".
says the postcard in my mailbox:
"_House_Of_Acid_Jazz_ is a collaboration of musicians from Italy, the
UK, and the US who are interested in developing a styke of future jazz
with a true 90's spirit. Jazz, but not jazz; House, but not house,
music nourished by the spirit of the bass and drums, crystal clear
pianos, warm Hammond organs and cool saxophones. "Ring Ring" by The
Funky Fellos and "Jazzy Guitar" [sequel to funky guitar?] by Jacomo
Brothers (which are on the four track House of Acid Jazz EP) owe more
to hard beat tempos, Herbie Hancock's electronic period, and the sweat
of true House music than the cool 60's/70's jazz leanings of other
acid-house groups like the James Taylor Quarter and The Night Trains
[the *who*?] Take a step into the future... House of Acid Jazz is
pure spice. Hitting the streets on Sept. 17th, 1993."
??? I'm gonna try to work that quote about the James Taylor Quarter
being referred to as an "acid-house" group :)
