HEY What are the most unconventional dub techno albums. The ones i know are pretty old now, surely there must be some newer ones I don't know about. ie: Mokira - Time-Axis Manipulations https://repeatle.bandcamp.com/album/time-axis-manipulation-2011 Echologist - Subterranean https://brendonmoellerechologistbeatpharmacy.bandcamp.com/album/subterranean & of course all that early Vladislav/Luomo/Sasu++ business https://vladislavdelay.bandcamp.com/album/multila-2020-remaster Oh and this Submersion is p far out there https://spaceofvariants.bandcamp.com/album/sv-17-submersion-suffused Put another way: assuming Basic Channel is the center, what haven't I heard that goes real close to the edge there without going completely outside the "dub techno" tent

hell yes, I had that /\\09 topdown tape but neglected to check back in later. Having rectified that: the two LPs are sounding great and v much unconventional dub techno. i would call that Cevin Key stuff "dub" more than "dub techno" purely bc it's cribbing directly from Tubby Scientist Scratch et al more than anybody from Europe. Pole has always felt like his own whole thing to me.. the 123R classic records at least have so much in common with Rhythm & Sound and yet... all the Techno has been excised and it makes for such a different listening experience. I must say "2" remains one of those handful of records that I cannot seem to wear out no matter how much I play it. Every summer, as soon as Baltimore gets dumb hot, I must play 2 loud from a car. All that said, the Pole album that came out last year is actually the most Techno thing I think he's done and it rules. Going to go check out Hoavi rn I don't think I've ever heard it. -rk On Sat, Oct 2, 2021 at 5:43 PM Albert Salinas - Lapsus <asalinas@lapsus.cat> wrote:

Hi Rjyan, Not exactly on the Basic Channel family (even though Wolfgang Voigt was very influenced by Moritz Von Oswald), but GAS always does it for me. The last album from 2018 ("Rausch") is really dark and haunting. On Sat, Oct 2, 2021 at 2:34 AM Rjyan Kidwell <cexwell@gmail.com> wrote:

I heard this one a couple week or so ago. https://soundcloud.app.goo.gl/qoQnpTSRpq7fiLQX6 It seems just a barebones sketch on the artist’s SC, but it kinda struck me as the meeting of dub techno and breaks / dnb. I can’t recall ever having heard something mashing things together like that before Granted, this is a very distilled definition of dub techno as a minor chord stab - In any case I thought it an interesting and refreshing mix, however brief. A very subtle inflection point but would love to hear more stuff like this with all a bit more routing and processing chain grit On Sun, 31 Oct 2021 at 12:14 am, Memjutsu <mehmet.ismail85@gmail.com> wrote:

I learned of this one earlier in this thread - https://peakoil.bandcamp.com/album/invariant ^ I've been returning to it a lot - super good! Another release, straying from the dubtechno side, which I've found myself returning to over time is this amazing Romsets release: https://romsets.bandcamp.com/album/faultys sounds like a mix between early Twerk material and Actress squashed house.
