I was at the same seminar.
I'm the person that Jim Griffen, ex CEO of Geffen Records
was talking about who organises the London "pho" dinners.
Pho is a newsgroup that has a lot of high profile lurkers
including lawyers, mobile, WIFI, dotcoms, vps of new media,
publishers, A&R types, BBC, and most everyone from the online
legit subscription/ala carte download community.
For the last two years, I've met a lot of people on the
pho list who are record company execs in high places who
do know what time it is. And are frustrated by all of
the issues that have been tying their hands.
There are people at indie labels who also know what's
happening. Denton Wilde Sapte are one of Europes best known
intellectual property law firms - you can find readable
news on their website - although you might
not agree with everything that was said by the people on
the panel - at least it got those people talking.
That's all I'm going to say and the above opinions represent
my own views.
