Hello everyone, The Record Camp Label and friends present a night of live kick ass electronic music tomorrow at Pianos. Expect an ecletic vibe of live Electro, Hip Hop, Acid House and Cold Wave. 9 Live acts plus 6 djs and a really fun night for $10, what a deal :-) Here's the brief: Pianos 158 Ludlow St. (Stanton and Rivington) April 26th (Saturday) 10PM - 4AM $10 Live in main room: Dhex. [Slunt] San Serac. [Record Camp] Sky Tucker. [Record Camp] Balloons. [Artikal] Ova Looven. [Artikal] Team Shadetek. [Warp] Long Division. [Record Camp] Heat Sensor. [Sound Ink] Innovaders. [Slunt] With Djs upstairs: EPAK (suction.com), Radeus (recordcamp), Tim and Mal, Kid Kameleon (recordcamp), Piles Geterson (XLR8R) and Basil Valentine _____________________________ Here's some Bios: Heat Sensor. hiphop/electronic contortion act, heat sensor, are sure to keep pigeons from flying at your windows this summer. the brooklyn based duo bring propulsive beats, odd record crates, and a twisted pop sensibility to make your head nod and ask to be scratched all at once. with production credits on upcoming sound-ink records releases including mf doom's new LP, viktor vaughn - vaudeville villain, m. sayyid's focus factor EP, as well as their own debut EP, touch, out this summer, heat sensor can be found twiddling knobs or spinning on record platters in a club near you. San Serac. San Serac is the alias of Nat Rabb, who recently left the frantic pace of New York for a life of quiet study in Providence. What does he study? Why, the synthesis of dancefloor action and the modern avant garde of course! Surely his interests stem from forgotten childhood memories: hearing Webern on mom & dad's hi-fi while Midnight Star played in the next room perhaps. Whatever the reason, he creates a strange kind of electronic disco, organized more and more often according to a dubious understanding of 12-tone theory. San Serac's debut, "Human Savagery Is A Slippery Slope," was released on his own Frog Man Jake label. He also plays with Big Numbers and INK. His next LP is due out sometime soon on the Record Camp Label. Sky Tucker. Miami transplant Sky Tucker has quietly been making noise since the early days of the IDM scene in Miami with the likes of fellow Miami scenesters Schematic, Merck and Beta Bodega. In the past 3 years of living in New York Sky has dj'd or played live along side some of the top names in the scene such as; Bola, Mira Calix, Plaid, Slicker and Babyford. Sky's music is both heavy handed and lacey. Drawing from his roots in electro and IDM. His sound is a musical evolution that starts with Luke Skywalker in Miami and continues into the melting pot of Styles that is New York City. Ova Looven. After the 1999 breakup of electronic-shoegaze-alchemists Antarctica, members Chris Donohue and Glenn Maryansky found themselves with a new vision. In a matter of days, they'd locked themselves in the studio with unofficial Antarctica sixth man Steve Depalo. The result: coldwave synths and sparse, delayed guitars woven through lush electronic soundscapery. National Skyline guitarist James Minor joins the lineup, and now three years of experimentation come to light. ova looven can easily be seen as the "next step" after Antarctica, focusing on electronics and songcraft with hypnotic repetition, dance-floor rhythms and a headphone-happy mix. For fans of Depeche Mode, The Cure, Boards of Canada, Human League, dark synth-pop, and - of course - Antarctica & National Skyline... Balloons. stomping minimal techno for maximum dancefloor (and peak level meter) activity. The Innovaders. Giorgio Marauder and Derelict May are innovaders, a duo united to spread the gospel of acid house and oldschool techno to the masses. Chicago cira 1988 is about to be reborn in New York 2003. Prepare to be innovaded. Dhex. dhex is ambient electronics, broken toys, mistreated gear and plenty of spunk. Team Shadetek. There's simply nothing better than Shadetek's dirty new york take on hip hop, dancehall and idm. Anyone who saw them open for Kid 606 recently would know what I'm talking about. Their shows are intense and full of energy and it's no surprise that Warp records recently added them to their roster. Long Division. Long Division will be performing in support of his upcoming solo release on the Record Camp label. Word has it that fellow Mercenary Constant will be performing as well. Long D is a wordsmith that comes from dirty wax and dusty books. His last performance was threw the audience into a frenzy, we're really looking forward to this next one. Hope to see you there. http://www.recordcamp.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
