Tim koch, aspen... They're australian, I believe. Australia also has very few people. I mean, there's the eastern coast, but most of the cities are obsessed with "scenes" and not simply just making good music. Given the difficulty of getting stuff to australia, I'm not surprised there are precious few idm-ers. At least the ones we know about are pretty good :) -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ catchy signature coming soon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

David Thrussel, who is Black Lung, Soma and Snog is from Melbourne. His newer stuff could be called dark idm, but his older stuff is much better. He balances ferocious noisy fast techno with dark ambient and isolationist stuff. Soma is kinda movie soundtrack stuff crossed with electronica, sort of like Ennio Morricone with a sampler. And Snog started off a proto Goth-Industrial outfit, but again, his newer stuff is a lot better, retaining the vocals, but changing styles to a more electronica-friendly vibe. He plays out live a lot as Black Lung, or at least he used to while I was there. And some of his earlier releases can still be had at Ant-Zen mailorder I think. Pimmon is also Australian if you're into a more experimental sound. And Darrin Vergagen aka Shinjuku Thief/Shinjuku Filth is also from Melbourne. I would highly recommend all the releases from his Dorobo label.
