sorry for the late un-gathered interjection into a complex, highly nuanced and irritating argument, but...uh... i like this quote... if a work comes freely from the human mind, it must necessarily belong to the whole of humanity -- heinrich von kleist Law is such a bedeviling creation! On a personal level, how can anyone possibly try to resolve the copyright and download issue without first clarifying one's own position on the meaning of labor, money, sacrifices...? Hey, when did all the intelligent people wake up. Which time zone Is that? Is it warm and sunny? I'm emigrating to wherever you all are...

But what works comes solely from the human mind and can it ever be truly shared by humanity who's own reasoning and perception will transform the meaning of that work? Actually, I don't think I want to get into it. It is a nice quote and I want to agree with it but it's that whole "what is art/artistic expression" and semiotics and perception and psychology stuff which gets very very very boring [except for us who are intrigued by it in a somewhat compulsive, almost autistic, way] and I think the reason we ended up with the world we are in was because most people couldn¹t actually agree and so they came up with laws to force us to agree on some basic things. And so that people who couldn't be bothered with those arguments could get along with their own existence perfectly content that someone else was worrying about the big issues for them... That was the Greeks philosophers... Then the Romans came along and spoiled it all. I mean, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Have you noticed that no matter if a person, a company, or a country succeeds or fails, lawyers always have work?

What an excellent suggestion: My names muffin and I'm a capitalist. No, wait, I'm a marxist. Oh, no, sorry, I'm an anarchist. Oh, no. I'm a mentalist. Yes. That will do. Sorry. I'm a bit bored. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
