Yeah I remember that video from seeing thier live show
last fall maybe? I remember it having the effect of
making my body writh and contort spasmodically in a
rythmic fashion. Or maybe that was the music. There
are some interesting images there, the american flag,
the sniper, bush and gore shaking hands, the school
bus (number 23 for all you conspiracy buffs!) and then
the american flag bundled up in barbed wire, plus all
the questions flashed on the screen. Maybe Plaid are
big scientologists, or maybe they are appropriating
contrasting images, juxtaposing them to produce a
really cool piece of art that makes you feel funny,
emotions that are indistinct but strong. I'm trying to
remember if that show was before or after sept. 11th,
I remember it bieng right around that time, maybe they
were referencing that or maybe- and wouldnt it be
wierd, it was made BEFORE sept. 11th. Anyways I like
stuff like that. On a semi off topic note, has anyone
seen Naqoiquatsi, the new film by Godfrey Reggio? Its
a kind of assemblage of all these images, with a score
by Phillip Glass. The Plaid video work kind of reminds
me of that in a wierd way.
