This is a totally random thought...but it would be curious to see if somebody could make a comparable documentary kind of thing about the current "diy/idm" electronic scene. Although it would probably come off as much lamer, and with much different concepts of culture, you could probably make an analogy to the different cultural elements of hiphop (graff, dj, mc, breakin) to something... Even if there's not quite as much too it, i'd be curious to see it done. - cutups ----- Original Message ----- From: "Reading, John" <john.reading@us.didata.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 5:12 PM Subject: [idm] [NYC] Wild Style this friday From: http://www.flavorpill.net/current.shtml when: Fri 9.20 (6pm-10pm) where: East River Amphitheater (E River btwn Grand and Canal) price: FREE The Soundlab crew gets ambitious with Represent, a two-day celebration of music and film (also Sat 9.21). hehe yeah.. didnt we sort of get a preview of what this movie might be like when we watched one of the dudes from autechre pick his nose during an interview while the other guy just sort of stared off into space? i dont think you'd ever see curtis blow or grandmaster flash picking their noses on film. although i think it would be an amusing movie in the humor catagory... scene: 'lemmesee.. yeah. oh check it out. i wrote this program on my computer thats hooked up to the stove and my ass. it cooks me eggs in the morning and gauges what kind of mood ill be in when i wake up by how many times and how loud my farts were just prior to awakening.. based on the methane analysis, it determines my general mood-state and synthesizes a program of music for my morning routine that compliments my demeanor.' damn. what a great film.
